A military officer from Odesa was found guilty of corruption and bribery. The court sentenced him to a fine and confiscation, and canceled his bail and seizure of property.
This is evidenced by the verdict of the Prymorskyi District Court of Odesa.
The court sentenced a military senior sailor of the Institute of the Navy of the National University "Odesa Maritime Academy" for receiving undue advantage and influencing officials of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the investigation, the serviceman, contrary to the requirements of the Constitution and military regulations, facilitated the transfer of servicemen from combat units to rear units for further service in exchange for a monetary reward. The total amount of money received amounted to UAH 124,820 and USD 2,000.
In particular, in January 2025, he received a $1,000 bribe near the Starosinnaya bus station in Odesa, and in February, he received UAH 83,000 on Lanzheronovskaya Street. In addition, in February 2025, together with another person, he received 2 thousand dollars for influencing the decision of the military medical commission to recognize his fitness for service.
The soldier pleaded guilty and entered into a plea agreement with the Specialized Defense Prosecutor's Office of the Southern Region, which the court approved. According to this decision, he was fined UAH 170,000.
The Odesa court also arrested an employee of a local military academy who is suspected of involvement in organizing a scheme to evade mobilization. According to the investigation, at the time of the crime, the man held the position of an inspector for military registration and reservation. Together with four accomplices, he allegedly demanded and received bribes totaling more than USD 12,000 and UAH 20,000.
In addition, at the end of July, in Odesa region, law enforcement officers jointly with the SBU exposed another official - the acting head of the district TCC and JV- on bribery. In exchange for USD 1500, he promised to remove a person liable for military service from the list of wanted persons.
