In Pervomaisk, a software engineer was tried for purchasing forged documents certifying his wife’s disability in order to obtain a deferment from mobilization.

This is stated in the verdict of the Pervomaisk City and District Court of Mykolaiv Oblast.

According to the case file, the man was subject to military service, was registered with the military, and had been deemed fit for service. At the same time, he had no legal grounds for a deferment at that time.

The investigation established that no later than November 2024, the programmer contacted two previously unknown individuals via a messaging app. In exchange for money, they agreed to prepare documents regarding his wife’s fictitious illness and to classify her as having a supposed Group II disability.

To have the documents prepared, the man provided his contacts with his wife’s personal information. Cases involving the individuals who, according to the investigation, produced the forged documents are being investigated separately.

As the court established, a certificate was prepared for the man stating that his wife had allegedly been assigned a Group II disability by Regional Medical and Social Examination Commission No. 1 in Odesa. A report was also fabricated by the Medical Advisory Commission of the “OMP MED” Medical Center, stating that the man was required to provide constant care for his wife.

The forged documents were sent from Kyiv to Pervomaisk via the post office. The sender used someone else’s personal information to do so.

On November 18, 2024, the programmer submitted an application to the commission requesting a deferment due to family circumstances. He attached the forged medical documents regarding his wife’s disability and the need for constant care for her.

Based on these documents, the man received a certificate granting him a deferment from mobilization.

During the investigation, he pleaded guilty and reached a plea agreement with the prosecutor. The court took into account that the man had no prior criminal record, was described in a positive light, assisted in solving the crime, and provided investigators with information about others involved in the scheme.

The judgment also states that the man currently has a lawful deferment from mobilization because he is reserved for service at his place of employment.

The court approved the plea agreement. For using forged documents, the man was fined 850 hryvnias, and for evading mobilization, 34,000 hryvnias. The final penalty amounted to a fine of 34,000 hryvnias.

In addition, under the terms of the agreement, the man agreed to transfer 50,000 hryvnias to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine within 20 days of the agreement’s approval.

Thus, the total amount of the fine and the mandatory contribution to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine is 84,000 hryvnias.
