A woman from Odessa took $5,000 in exchange for a promise to hide her husband from the TCC

A woman was detained in Odesa after she promised a man, for 5,000 U.S. dollars, to have his name removed from the TCC’s wanted list, help him get assigned to a military unit, and avoid service in areas of active combat.

This was reported by the press service of the National Police in the Odesa region.

According to the investigation, the woman assured an acquaintance that she had influence over officials at the Territorial Recruitment Center and a military unit. In exchange for money, she allegedly could resolve issues regarding his military registration and place of service.

Law enforcement officers detained the Odessa woman immediately after she received the agreed-upon $5,000 from the man. Physical evidence was seized from her.

The court remanded the woman into custody with the possibility of release on bail. The bail amount was set at nearly 1 million hryvnias. The suspect posted the bail and was released from the pretrial detention center.

The woman was charged under Part 2 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The charge involves receiving money in exchange for a promise to influence the decisions of officials.

The indictment has already been submitted to the court. If found guilty, the woman faces up to five years in prison.

Earlier,policein Odesa detained a 33-year-old operator at a military unit who promised to help those interested resolve mobilization issues for 5,000 U.S. dollars. 

Additionally, an employee was caught accepting a bribe at one of Odesa’s district military registration and enlistment offices and joint service centers. In exchange for money, she promised conscripts that she would arrange disability status and deferment from conscription for them. The court remanded the official to pretrial detention with the option of release on bail set at 1 million hryvnias.
