Police detained a 33-year-old cameraman of a military unit in Odesa who promised to assist in resolving the mobilization issue for $5,000.

This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police of Ukraine in Odesa region.

The police found that the detainee promised to help a resident of Odesa, who was wanted by the district center for recruitment and social support in connection with the violation of the rules of military registration. By influencing the officials of the RTCS and the JV, he guaranteed removal from the wanted list and fictitious employment at a critical infrastructure facility with subsequent reservation. Law enforcement officers detained the serviceman after he met with the client and received a part of the bribe - $3,000.

During the searches, they seized money, documentation and other material evidence of the suspect's illegal activities. Based on the collected evidence, he was served a notice of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - abuse of influence. This crime is punishable by imprisonment for up to eight years with confiscation of property.

Earlier, investigators sent to court the case of two men who were detained in the winter of 2026 on suspicion of influence peddling by a group of people. They also offered employment services with a reservation at a critical enterprise where the younger of the two worked. The dealers promised to prepare documents, including military registration documents, which would be the basis for obtaining a deferral from military service, by influencing military personnel of territorial recruitment and social support centers with which they allegedly had connections.
