Volodymyr Alekseev, head of the Odesa-Port customs post of the Odesa Customs, did not indicate in his 2023 declaration an apartment in France owned by his wife.

This was reported by the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption, which checked the customs officer's declaration in 2026.

The customs officer himself explained that his wife had been living in France since 2015 and had categorically forbidden him to reflect her property in his declaration, and did not give him any information about it at all. Volodymyr Alekseev even provided the NACP with a notarized copy of a written statement from his wife confirming this prohibition.

The situation is the same with a 2023 Toyota C-HR, which also belongs to his wife in France. The NACP took into account the customs officer's explanation, but stated that this did not negate the fact that the declaration contained untrue information.

However, since the NACP did not find any violations of financial control requirements or declaration of false information in the declaration that would lead to criminal or administrative proceedings, it did not apply to law enforcement agencies.

Earlier, the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption found false information in the declaration of the acting president of the State Shipping Company Black Sea Shipping Company, Yuriy Berezhnyi. In particular, Yuriy Berezhnyi did not indicate in his declaration a loan of UAH 11 million taken out by his wife. He stated that he learned about this loan only when he was preparing an explanation for the NACP regarding the discrepancies. According to him, his wife took out a loan in 2021, purchased real estate, a car, used part of the money for current expenses, and lent the rest to another person.
