In Mykolaiv, we continue to equip modern shelters in schools and kindergartens. Recently, the repair of a protective structure in one of the schools of the Ingul district was completed.
This was reported by the press service of Mykolaiv City Council.
According to the school principal, Lyudmyla Yuriyivna, the shelter fully meets modern safety standards. Its construction was made possible thanks to the cooperation of the city council with partners: The International Organization for Migration, savED and Partnership for a Strong Ukraine foundations.
The repairs included renovation of walls, ceilings and floors, installation of a modern ventilation system that maintains a comfortable microclimate, as well as installation of emergency power, fire alarm and water purification systems.
The shelter is equipped with a medical room, a supply of drinking water, new furniture, board games for children and sanitary facilities.
According to the principal, the school has 392 students, while the shelter can accommodate up to 500 people. This allows for one-shift training even in the event of an air raid.
A total of 67 shelters have already been repaired in Mykolaiv: 30 in kindergartens and 37 in schools. The plan for 2025 is to renovate 17 more protective structures.
A kindergarten in Bashtanka has recently reopened and now has a modern shelter. It can accommodate 142 children. The shelter is equipped with a ventilation system, high-quality lighting, comfortable furniture, board games, and modern equipment, including a computer, projector, and generator. Thanks to this, children will be able to stay here in comfortable conditions even in the absence of electricity.
Last year, two underground schools were opened in Mykolaiv region, which allow for offline learning even during prolonged air raids. One of these modern shelters is located in Zavodskyi district. It is a full-fledged underground school that accommodates more than 1,200 students and operates in two shifts. The space is divided into functional zones for convenient organization of the educational process.
The educational institutions in the region were also equipped with autonomous power supplies. More than UAH 35 million was allocated from the budget to prepare for the winter period and install the necessary equipment.
