An all-Ukrainian inventory of state and municipal real estate, which was conducted to find buildings that could be equipped for internally displaced persons, revealed one dormitory in Odesa.

This was reported in the municipality following an on-site meeting of the Temporary Special Commission of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the Protection of the Rights of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Odesa.

The dormitory is located on Krasnov Street and is being repaired by the community at its own expense. When the work is completed, the building will be able to accommodate up to 110 people. Other dormitories in the city are owned by enterprises, higher education institutions or the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

The municipality is also currently looking for an investor to complete the construction of a residential building for IDPs in the Peresypsky district. The requirement to equip a shelter has increased the cost of the project to UAH 369 million, which the community does not currently have in its budget, so construction has been suspended.

Pavlo Frolov, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Commission, said that as part of the real estate inventory, the State Property Fund and local governments in all regions have already provided more than 9,000 real estate objects for consideration by coordination commissions at regional military administrations to obtain a real picture of vacant real estate suitable for IDPs.

It should be noted that as of December 1, 2024, more than 229,000 pensioners, 53,000 people with general disabilities, 13,500 children with disabilities, and 131,000 internally displaced persons are registered with district social protection departments in Odesa.

Among the recipients of social assistance are more than 16,000 women who receive maternity benefits, more than 3,000 children from large families, and 2,000 people who provide care for people with disabilities.
