15 years + : Ukrainian court hands down second sentence to Saldo traitor

(ua.news)

The Ukrainian court found Volodymyr Saldo guilty for the second time and added another sentence to the previous one, according to which the collaborator will receive 15 years in prison for organizing a fake referendum on the accession of Kherson region to Russia. In addition to imprisonment, the convict will lose all his personal property and will not be able to hold leadership positions for 15 years.

This was reported by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.

According to the report, the deputy of the Kherson City Council of the VIII convocation sided with the aggressor and, having been appointed to the position of the occupying "head of the military-civilian administration of the Kherson region," organized an illegal referendum on the accession of the temporarily occupied territory to the Russian Federation.

The verdict was passed in absentia, without the defendant's presence at the hearing.

We also previously wrote about how three city councils in southern Ukraine have been purged of pro-Russian deputies.

During the current term, the city councils of regional centers lost 145 deputies, which is 12.5% of their full membership. According to the study, the situation is not the best in Odesa, Kherson, and Mykolaiv, where due to the resignation of deputies and the ban of the parties that nominated them, it is not even technically possible to fill the empty seats. As a result, some councils are effectively paralyzed.

Recently, the Kherson City Court found former journalist and TV host Tetyana Levandovska guilty of collaboration. According to the court, she was sentenced in absentia to 10 years in prison with confiscation of all property and a 15-year ban on holding positions in government, state and municipal institutions.
