Zmeinyi Island defender released from captivity crashes on motorcycle

Artur Sosnin, a defender of Zmeinyi Island from the Vilkovo community, died in an accident in Odesa Oblast.

Artur Sosin was a native of the Vilkovo community. He was one of the first to be captured by the enemy. He spent 27 months there. Upon his return home, his mother and younger sister were waiting for him. His father, like Arthur, survived Russian captivity.

The accident occurred on September 13. It has been preliminarily established that a 33-year-old motorcycle driver lost control and collided with a car driven by a 35-year-old man who was moving in the opposite direction.

The motorcyclist was killed in the accident. The driver of the car was not injured. A sobriety test showed that he was sober. Investigators registered the incident in the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. It is a violation of the rules of road safety or operation of transport by a person driving a vehicle, if they caused the death of the victim.

Earlier, the daughter of the former mayor of Kiliya, Pavlo Boichenko, Kateryna, died as a result of an accident in Izmail, Odesa region. The tragedy occurred on September 5 , when Kateryna Boychenko was hit by a 19-year-old BMW driver while she was crossing the road on an unregulated pedestrian crossing. The driver was not injured. A sobriety test showed that he was sober.

Also, the mayor of Reni, Ihor Plekhov, was involved in an accident between the settlements of Vvedenka and Svitlodolynske in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district of Odesa region. The mayor's SUV went off the road and overturned. As a result of the accident, a 72-year-old woman, the mayor's mother, who was in the passenger seat, was killed. Ihor Plekhov himself and his 5-year-old boy, who was also in the car, were taken by ambulance to a local hospital with multiple injuries.
