A prosecutor from the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, based on materials from the State Bureau of Investigations, filed a lawsuit with the High Anti-Corruption Court seeking to have assets totaling 7.3 million hryvnias declared unjustified and forfeited to the state.
According to the prosecutor’s office press service, the case concerns assets acquired by Maksym Vinnitskyi, commander of the 31st Separate Repair and Restoration Regiment of the “South” Operational Command.
“The servicemember registered these assets in the names of his mother, his partner, and her close relative,” the SAP reported.
The lawsuit was filed on the grounds that between 2023 and 2024, Maksym Vinnitsky acquired two cars and two apartments, the nominal owners of which were his mother, his partner, and her mother.
“At the same time, the military officer was actually the one who organized the purchase of this property and directly paid for it. An analysis of the official income and expenses of the regiment commander, his partner, and their close relatives revealed that they did not have sufficient legal income to purchase these assets,” the prosecutor’s office stated.
Therefore, the prosecutor filed a lawsuit seeking to have the assets—whose lawful origin raises reasonable doubt—declared unjustified and to recover them from the nominal owners for the benefit of the state.
In May,a prosecutor from the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office filed a lawsuit with the High Anti-Corruption Court seeking to have an asset used by the head of one of the police departments in the Odesa region declared unjustified.
