In the Prydniprovskyi sector, Ukrainian defenders stopped the occupiers' assault on the Antonivskyi Bridge near Kherson. The enemy's attempt to advance in this strategically important suburb failed, and under the pressure of the Defense Forces, the enemy troops were forced to retreat.

This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Over the past day, the intensity of fighting at the front was extremely high: a total of 173 combat engagements were recorded. The largest number of attacks occurred in the Pokrovsk sector, where 47 assaults took place, and significant activity was observed in the Huliaipil, Oleksandrivka, Kostiantynivka, Lyman and Kupyansk sectors. Fighting was less intense in the Sloviansk and Orikhivsk sectors of the frontline.

On the left bank of the Kherson region, the marines of the 30th Corps spotted two small groups of Russian troops trying to approach Ukrainian positions. After an accurate retaliatory strike, the occupiers abandoned their plans and retreated. According to the Institute for War Studies, as of January 10, Russian troops continued limited ground operations in the Kherson sector, but made no progress.

On January 8-9, three people were killed and children were wounded in Kherson region as a result of Russian shelling. Three multi-storey buildings and five private houses in the region's communities were severely damaged.

Kherson region was again under massive attacks by Russian troops. The occupiers used drones, aircraft, and artillery to shell both frontline communities and settlements inland. The attacks hit 30 settlements, including Antonivka, Komyshany, Bilozerka, Beryslav, Novovorontsovka and Kherson.

The enemy targeted critical and social infrastructure, as well as residential areas. The shelling damaged three multi-storey buildings and nine private homes. A catering establishment, a workshop, a gas pipe and several private cars were also destroyed.
