The suspect served as a guard of cells with illegally imprisoned Kherson residents.

According to the Prosecutor's Office of Kherson region, after the occupation of Kherson, the suspect voluntarily supported representatives of the aggressor state. In July 2022, he was appointed a security guard in an illegally created institution called the "Detention Center".

"This institution operated in the seized building of the Kherson Detention Center, where the occupiers held local residents," the agency explained.

After the liberation of Kherson, the offender tried to avoid justice by hiding with his friends in the region. However, law enforcement officers established his whereabouts and detained him.

Under the procedural supervision of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office, the former employee of the Kherson pre-trial detention center was served a notice of suspicion of treason and collaboration. The suspect is currently in custody. The detainee faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Earlier, law enforcement officers identified the FSB member who mocked Kherson residents during the occupation. He was an employee of the regional office of the Russian Federal Security Service in the Tyumen region, who illegally imprisoned and tortured at least five civilians in Kherson.

Before that, an employee of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs who interrogated and tortured a resident of Kherson during the occupation was identified. The policeman first hit the illegally imprisoned man 30 times on the body with a rubber baton, then picked up a grinder and threatened to cut off his fingers and hands. After that, to intimidate the victim, the offender pointed a gun at him and simulated shooting him. Finally, the Russian attacker inflicted at least 15 more blows with a rubber baton and sent the man to the cell.
