The "School of Humanities" Lyceum of the Kherson Regional Council has reported possible violations during the mobilization of the school’s principal, Artem Kiyanovsky, and has called on the competent authorities to investigate the legality of the actions taken by officials of the Territorial Mobilization Center.

The statement was published on the school’s website.

According to the lyceum, on June 23, Artem Kiyanovsky was traveling to Kyiv for a meeting of the Scientific and Methodological Commission of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. At a checkpoint in Pivdennoukrainsk, he was stopped by representatives of the Voznesensk District Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support.

The statement notes that the lyceum director did not resist and agreed to comply with the lawful requirements for completing the necessary paperwork. However, according to the school, he was taken to the Voznesensk TCC and later to Mykolaiv to undergo a military medical examination.

The lyceum claims that the medical examination lasted about 40 minutes, despite the director’s chronic health conditions. It is also noted that the medical commission’s report included results for tests he allegedly did not undergo. Afterward, Artem Kiyanovsky was sent to a military unit.

In addition, the school reported that for over nine hours, the principal was unable to contact his 87-year-old father, who was left without any information about his son’s whereabouts. According to representatives of the lyceum, this led to a deterioration in the elderly man’s health.

The statement also emphasizes the need to verify compliance with Article 23 of the Law of Ukraine “On Mobilization Preparation and Mobilization,” which provides for the right to deferment for certain categories of teaching and research-teaching staff.

The lyceum called on the competent authorities to conduct a legal assessment of the officials’ actions and to investigate all the circumstances of the case.

As of the time of publication, the Voznesensk District Territorial Mobilization Center and Joint Staff has not issued an official statement regarding this situation.

Recently, following an inspection by representatives of the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, six men were released from the Mykolaiv Regional Territorial Mobilization and Recruitment Center’s assembly point; the authorities had no legal grounds to detain them. Among them was a manwith broken ribs, as well as individuals who had legal grounds for deferment from mobilization.
