In the Kherson region, a resident of a village cooperated with the occupiers and was appointed to a position of leadership in an illegal administration. Now she faces up to ten years in prison for treason against Ukraine.

This was reported by the press service of the SBU in Ternopil region.

According to the investigation, in May 2024, a 45-year-old resident of the temporarily occupied Kalanchak, Olha Kozynska, voluntarily agreed to cooperate with the Russian occupiers and took on the role of a gauleiter in a number of settlements of the territorial community, which the occupiers renamed the so-called "Kalanchak Municipal District of the Kherson Region".

The woman headed the Myrnenska territorial department in the administration of this district. In this position, she performed organizational, administrative, and administrative and economic functions, monitored local residents' compliance with the laws of the aggressor state, and actually participated in the activities of the occupation authorities.

In particular, the collaborator received residents of the village of Myrne and the village of Novooleksandrivka, considered their appeals, issued certificates, dealt with real estate re-registration, and publicly represented the interests of Russian administrative bodies, presented certificates and other awards of the occupation authorities to local residents.

Within the framework of the criminal proceedings, SBU investigators classified her actions under Part 5 of Art. 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine as cooperation and notified the suspect in absence of the crime. She faces up to ten years in prison for collaborating with the enemy. According to the press service, the suspect is currently hiding in the temporarily occupied territory.

According to media reports, the woman lived in the village of Novooleksandrivka and did not have a permanent job for most of her life. Her main source of income was state child support, as Kozynska is a mother of many children. In December 2020, she registered as a sole proprietor with a type of activity "retail trade in food, beverages and tobacco products," but in March 2021, she stopped her business.

Also in late July, the SBU served a notice of suspicion to the former deputy director of the lyceum, Tetiana Bytska, who voluntarily headed the school created by the Russians during the occupation. She supported the aggressor, replaced Ukrainian symbols and destroyed Ukrainian textbooks.
