Russian troops are stepping up their activity in the Prydniprovia sector: the enemy is regrouping forces, strengthening logistics, and conducting evacuation and reconnaissance activities.

According to the Southern Defense Forces, these actions indicate that the occupiers are preparing for new attempts to capture the strategically important island zone on the Dnipro.

"In the Prydniprovia direction, the enemy is regrouping, conducting logistics, evacuation and reconnaissance activities to continue attempts to capture the island zone of the Dnipro," the statement said.

In the southern regions, the enemy continues to strike with artillery systems and multiple rocket launchers, shelling the frontline territories and settlements of Kherson, Zaporizhzhia and Dnipro regions. Over the last day, more than forty attacks were recorded, covering 21 settlements.

As Oleksandr Prokudin recently stated, the military of the aggressor country has changed the tactics of shelling the settlements of Kherson region. First, the occupiers drop bombs, and then cover the same area with artillery, the official said. This means that the situation remains dangerous after the first arrival. That is why it is important not to leave the shelter immediately.

In addition, the head of the JMA said that the Russian military had significantly intensified shelling of the region.

On May 15-16, Russian troops once again attacked peaceful towns in Kherson region. One man was killed, 13 others were wounded, and 25 settlements were shelled by artillery, aircraft and drones.

The occupiers also hit residential areas, critical and railway infrastructure. At least two high-rise buildings and ten private houses were destroyed. Shells hit a gas station, telecommunication towers, gas pipelines, and outbuildings. A truck with humanitarian aid and several private cars were damaged.
