Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation have completed a pre-trial investigation against an official of a law enforcement agency from Odesa who organized a scheme to illegally depart men of military age abroad.

According to the SBI press service, the indictment was sent to court.

According to the investigation, the head of a group of inspectors at one of the checkpoints in Odesa region offered those wishing to illegally leave the country to cross the border with Moldova without hindrance for 3 thousand US dollars. By prior arrangement, the men would arrive on a day off, and the offender would personally let them out without properly checking their documents.

In particular, it was found that the official missed a car with two women and a man, but entered only the women into the database.

In March 2025, she was exposed while receiving another bribe. She has now been removed from office. Her actions are classified under Part 1 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (obtaining an undue advantage by an official). The sanction of the article provides for up to four years in prison.

On the eve of her detention , law enforcement officers detained two servicemen in Odesa on suspicion of extortion from a man who was registered with one of the territorial centers for recruitment and social support as a person evading mobilization.

Prior to that, the State Bureau of Investigation, together with the Security Service of Ukraine, served the law enforcement officer with a notice of suspicion that he had promised the men to remove them from the list of persons liable for military service in exchange for money.

Earlier, the SBI reported the exposure of an organized group of doctors who helped healthy men of conscription age obtain medical documents that allowed the medical and social expert commission to declare them unfit for service.
