The Prymorskyi District Court of Odesa has sentenced a militant of the DNR terrorist organization in absentia to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.

This was reported by the SBU press service.

According to the investigation, the convict is a resident of Odesa and an ideological supporter of the Kremlin regime. In early 2015, a 55-year-old Odesa resident fled to the temporarily occupied territory of Donetsk region, where he joined the ranks of militants. He was appointed a rifleman of the reconnaissance unit of the Russian armed forces of the first army corps of the so-called people's militia of the dpr. He was a rifleman with the call sign "Marine".

In 2015-2018, the militant performed reconnaissance and sabotage tasks, gathered information, conducted counterintelligence activities, and participated in combat operations against the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Donetsk and Luhansk regions. The man was also a member of the power bloc of the so-called Odesa Liberation Committee and another paramilitary group.

In addition to hostilities against the Ukrainian state, he spread the ideology of terrorism through social networks and justified the actions of the illegal authorities of the Donetsk People's Republic. He publicly opposed Ukrainian statehood, supported and promoted pro-Russian ideas, trying to discredit Ukraine and its people. The convict is currently in the temporarily occupied territory of Donetsk region. The term of his sentence will be calculated from the date of his detention and actual execution of the sentence.

In July, the Prymorskyi District Court of Odesa found the native of Khrustalnyi, Luhansk region, guilty of participating in a terrorist organization and sentenced him to eight years in prison without confiscation of property.

In September last year, the court found guilty an Odesa resident who served under the call sign "Santa" in an illegal armed unit of the "LPR" - the so-called 14th Battalion of Territorial Defense "Primara" (in Russian, "Ghost").
