The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has decided to double the monthly supplement for teachers working in the frontline regions. This increase applies to teachers who teach in full-time and mixed formats.

This was announced by Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Oksen Lisovyi on Facebook.

The amount of the monthly supplement is to increase from 2600 hryvnias to 5200 hryvnias (or 4000 hryvnias after taxes). If a teacher works more than one full-time position, the additional payment will increase in proportion to his or her workload.

According to Education and Science Minister Oksen Lisovyi, the increase will cover more than 25,000 teachers in 84 frontline communities. In particular, this applies to teachers in Kherson, Mykolaiv, Dnipro, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Luhansk, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv regions.

UAH 372.3 million has been allocated from the state budget for the increase in supplementary payments, which will be charged this month for September and October. Minister Lisovyi emphasized that the decision was made in view of the fact that "teachers in frontline communities work in more difficult and dangerous conditions, ensuring the continuity of education for children."

For the rest of the teachers who work above the rate, a supplement of UAH 2600 (UAH 2000 after taxes) is retained. Since September 1, the government has allocated UAH 6.2 billion in subventions to provide this additional payment, and the funds have already been transferred to the communities.

Earlier, the Kherson City Court sentenced Maryna Arkhangelska, who took the position of illegal dean of the Kherson State Agrarian and Economic University, which was seized by the Russians, during the occupation.

As the investigation established, during the occupation , Arkhangelska voluntarily cooperated with the enemy, actively implementing the educational standards of the Russian Federation. She organized the admission of students, provided the educational process exclusively in Russian, personally taught disciplines and held academic councils. At these councils, she urged her fellow teachers to improve their skills in Russian institutions and approved curricula in accordance with the norms of the Russian Federation. The court canceled the seizure of her property.
