Olena Penza, a resident of the Kherson region, was charged with "high treason committed by providing financial assistance to a foreign state in its activities" by the occupation court on the left bank of the Kherson region.

This was reported by Most.

The court sentenced the 53-year-old woman to 12 years in prison in a general regime colony, with a 1-year restriction of liberty and a fine of 100 thousand rubles.

In January and March 2024, the woman made several money transfers to a foreign bank account using a mobile application. According to the Russian occupiers, the money was provided for financial support and logistical support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

However, active efforts to expose and punish collaborators continue in Kherson and the region. In February 2025, five residents of the region were suspected of collaboration. In May, the heads of the occupation structures were sentenced: one of them was sentenced to 15 years in prison for the brutal persecution of local residents, and the other to 10 years for assisting the occupation regime.

In addition, law enforcement officers served suspicion notices to two residents of Kherson who worked for the enemy in the "police department" during the occupation of the city. These are a 37-year-old woman and a 48-year-old man. They are suspected of voluntarily taking up positions in the illegally created "Suvorov City Police" that operated under the control of the invaders.

The court also sentenced a former police major from Kherson region who voluntarily defected to the occupiers. He was found guilty of committing serious criminal offenses, including high treason and collaboration.
