Following a public prosecution by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office, a resident of the region was sentenced in absentia to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property. He was found guilty of voluntarily holding a position in an illegal law enforcement agency (Part 7 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
This was reported by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.
The court found the man guilty of collaborative activity on the fact of voluntarily holding a position in an illegal law enforcement agency.
Prosecutors proved that in June 2022, the defendant took up the position of the so-called "Deputy Head of the Legal Department of the Tax Service of the Kherson Region" created by the occupation authorities. In this pseudo-position, he headed a structural unit and provided legal support for the work of the body. Through his activities, the convict directly contributed to the administration of taxes and fees to the budget of the aggressor state, and worked to legitimize the occupation regime in the temporarily occupied territory.
In addition to imprisonment, the man was deprived of the right to hold positions in public authorities and provide public services for 15 years. Since the verdict was passed in absentia, the sentence will begin from the moment the collaborator is actually detained.
