A former police officer suspected of helping to illegally obtain driver's licenses has been brought to court in Kherson region. According to investigators, he was part of a scheme that allowed people to obtain documents without actually attending a driving school.

This was reported by the press service of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.

Law enforcement officers have completed an investigation into a former law enforcement officer who is accused of involvement in the illegal issuance of driver's licenses. The indictment has already been sent to court.

According to the investigation, during 2023-2024, the former police officer used his connections to help people obtain documents about allegedly completing driving school training without actually attending classes. This opened the way to obtaining a driver's license without the necessary knowledge and skills.

Investigators found that the scheme involved an employee of a driving school and several other officials. A separate investigation is underway against them.

The essence of the fraud was that in exchange for money, the scheme participants issued forged documents on completion of a practical driving course. In fact, the "clients" never even got behind the wheel during the training. The data on the allegedly successful training was entered into official registers, which allowed them to obtain a driver's license without any obstacles.

Also in March, the SBI served a notice of suspicion on another Kherson law enforcement officer involved in a corrupt scheme to sell driver's licenses. According to the investigation, he helped at least three people to get a license without training for money.

The scheme, which operated in Kherson and Mykolaiv regions, was exposed by the SBI in 2024. It was organized by a former law enforcement officer who used his experience and connections to create a system of "quick driving licenses" for money - without training and in the shortest possible time.
