Rescuers of Kherson region unblock an elderly woman and overcome the consequences of shelling

Kherson rescuers helped to free an elderly woman who was blocked in a house due to Russian shelling.

This is stated in the press service of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Kherson region.

The post says that a residential building was damaged in the central part of Kherson due to enemy shelling. As it turned out, an elderly woman was trapped in the building.

It is noted that the rescuers arrived at the scene, dismantled the damaged structures and took the owner out into the yard. The woman refused medical assistance.

It is also said that the occupiers continue to attack the de-occupied part of the Kherson region in general. Thus, the day before, units of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Kherson region, together with local fire brigades, extinguished 17 fires, six of which were caused by occupiers' shelling. Outbuildings and the premises of an educational institution were on fire. Also, 13 fires were extinguished in ecosystems with a total area of 6.28 hectares.

The press service also reported that since the beginning of the year, 662 fires in open areas have been recorded in the Kherson region, destroying 1396 hectares of ecosystems. Most of the fires were caused by enemy shelling, but there are also cases of fires caused by the human factor. It is noted that this is the deliberate burning of garbage and dead wood, or an unextinguished cigarette butt thrown into the grass.

Earlier it was reported that rescuers in Kherson region eliminated eight fires, two of which were caused by enemy shelling. Thus, on August 22, firefighters visited and extinguished fires that occurred at a facility and in two apartments in a multi-storey residential building. In the morning, the enemy shelled the city of Kherson. As a result of ammunition hits, a fire broke out at a facility in the central part of the city. The fire was extinguished by coordinated and prompt actions of rescuers.

Also on August 20, 12 fires broke out in Kherson region, six of which were caused by ammunition.
