Police send to SBI case on shooting burial of fallen defender in Reni

The police have entered into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations data on the damage by unknown persons to the graves of fallen soldiers at the cemetery in Reni, Odesa region.

The police told Intent that the case file has now been transferred to another organization, namely the State Bureau of Investigation.

The mother of one of the victims, Vikoria Minyakova, reported to the police that she had found damage on the monument to her son Stanislav Topal, which was later identified as bullet holes. Bullet fragments were also found near the monument. Similar damage was found on the cemetery gate.

If those who damaged the monument are found and their guilt is proven, the perpetrators face four to seven years in prison.

Stanislav Topal died during the defense of Mariupol at the age of 19. He joined the army with the intention of working in the state emergency service after completing his service. After his death, residents of Mariupol buried Stanislav Topal in one of the city's yards. His family found out where he was buried because one of the residents of Mariupol kept his documents and reported it on social media.

Subsequently, with the help of the Red Cross, the parents managed to get the body exhumed in the occupied city and brought to Kyiv, and based on DNA analysis and tattoos that the boy had, it was identified as him. The parents insisted that the body of their son, who was an only child, be brought and buried in Reni.
