In 2025, a program of comprehensive support for servicemen who returned from Russian captivity was implemented in Mykolaiv region. The initiative provided individualized support to the defenders, including medical rehabilitation, social adaptation, and professional legal advice.

This was reported by the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration.

Mykolaiv region became the leader among the regions of Ukraine in terms of the number of defenders released from captivity in 2025. 493 servicemen returned home, including 222 marines. A large-scale support system has been deployed in the region to help them recover. Specialists accompany each soldier in medical facilities, helping with treatment, documents and social benefits.

Special attention is paid to families: children are provided with healthcare in Ukraine and abroad. A single hotline is available to resolve any issues promptly.

Earlier, Mykolaiv hosted a rally in support of Ukrainian soldiers held in Russian captivity and reported missing. During the event, the townspeople welcomed two soldiers who returned home from captivity.

About 250 Mykolaiv residents, including relatives and friends of the defenders, took part in the action in support of the captured and missing soldiers. This event not only marked the return of two soldiers, but also reminded of those who are still in Russian captivity. Residents of the city expressed their solidarity with the families of the soldiers, emphasizing how important it is to fight for the release of every prisoner.
