Police detained a resident of Odesa in Kyiv who offered his services to those wishing to complete their military career or avoid mobilization.
This was reported by the press service of the National Police.
According to the investigation, using connections among employees of medical institutions in Odesa, the offender promised to issue medical documents that would confirm the client's unfitness for combat missions. In one of the cases, the detainee offered to use his contacts to a military man. In exchange for 5 thousand dollars, the man promised to discharge the man from service due to deteriorating health.
To do this, he planned to provide retroactive documents on inpatient treatment in Odesa medical institutions without the client's actual presence. During the alleged stay in the medical facility, the doctors were supposed to detect a deterioration in the patient's health and issue the relevant papers. Based on the false statements, the soldier could legally discharge from service.
To be convincing, the offender even sent a photo of an extract from the patient's imaginary history so that the man would not change his mind about paying for the service. The police conducted a series of searches in several regions and detained the organizer of the scheme after he received the agreed amount. During the operation, they found and seized evidence confirming the man's illegal activities.
Currently, police investigators have served the detainee a notice of suspicion of extortion and obtaining an unlawful benefit for influencing the decision-making of a person authorized to perform state functions, committed by a group of persons. He faces up to 8 years in prison.
