Mykolaiv will receive up to EUR 7.2 million in grant funds for the installation of individual heating units. It will be used to install individual heating points (IHPs) and improve energy efficiency in residential buildings in the city.

The relevant draft decision was approved by the standing committee on housing and communal services of the Mykolaiv City Council.

As explained by Ihor Nabatov, First Deputy Director of the Department of Housing and Communal Services, the grant provides funding of up to €7.2 million. The final amount will be determined based on the results of the tender procedure that will be launched after this decision is made. He emphasized that this step is a continuation of work on similar energy efficiency projects already being implemented in Mykolaiv.

The commission members supported the project unanimously.

Before that, the commission approved an agreement with NEFCO on other energy efficiency initiatives. The current decision only launches the procedure for preparing for the installation of IHS, just as it was done at the end of last year.

Mykolaiv has also expanded its co-financing program for repairs in apartment buildings to include heating networks.

From now on, co-owners of such buildings will be able to receive assistance not only for water and sewage repairs, but also for heating.

The first deputy explained that previously the program covered only two areas - water supply and sewerage. Thanks to the amendments to the decision of March 9, 2023, the list now includes heating networks. This will allow condominiums and management companies to apply for the city's support in carrying out the relevant work.

According to Nabatov, the program has already shown its effectiveness, with about 200 buildings having been repaired since its launch. Extending the program to heat supply should help to further upgrade the worn-out infrastructure.

The members of the commission supported the changes, and the relevant decision was adopted.
