Mykolaiv to Build ₴790M Children's Diagnostic Center with Shelter

Mykolaiv plans to build a modern children's diagnostic center with a transition to a stationary building and a civil defense shelter for 500 people. The project is planned to attract almost UAH 790 million, of which 0.53 percent is financed from the local budget.

This was reported by the Center for Public Investigations with reference to the Dream ecosystem.

The new complex will appear on the territory of the City Children's Hospital No. 2 at 5 Ryumina Street. According to the description, it is a strategic project that will not only improve the quality of medical services for children but also provide reliable protection for patients and staff in case of emergencies.

The center will have three floors with a basement that will serve as a shelter. The center will include rehabilitation rooms, diagnostic departments, a pharmacy, and administrative offices.

The new building takes into account modern requirements for accessibility, environmental friendliness and safety. It is planned to install tactile strips, ramps, vertical lifts for people with limited mobility, and solar solar systems for water supply. For security, video surveillance systems, access restrictions and a full range of fire protection will be installed. It is also planned to improve the surrounding area and arrange parking lots for visitors and staff.

During emergencies, the basement will be able to accommodate up to 500 people - patients, staff and visitors to the hospital. For quick evacuation, elevators adapted for the transportation of people with disabilities and hospital beds are provided.

The total budget of the project is UAH 789.8 million.

So far, only UAH 4.2 million from the city budget has been confirmed. This is only 0.53% of the total amount.

The Children's Diagnostic Center will become an important element of the city's medical infrastructure, facilitating early diagnosis, improving the quality of treatment for children and creating a safe environment even in emergency situations.

Additional investments are needed to complete the construction and fully equip the diagnostic center. Particular attention is being paid to finding international grants and funds that support projects in the field of healthcare and civil protection.

And the Mykolaiv Regional Children's Clinical Hospital plans to carry out a large-scale reconstruction that will cover several buildings of the medical institution. It is planned to raise UAH 167 million for this work in 2025-2026.

In addition, they are looking for funding to renovate the phthisiopulmonary center. More than UAH 80 million is needed to implement the project. As part of the reconstruction, it is planned to create a modern infectious disease boxed ward equipped with temperature, humidity, and air purity control systems to ensure safe patient treatment.
