Mykolaiv's Development Strategy: Focus on Economy, Innovation, and Recovery

The deputies identified the creation of a transport and logistics hub with a developed port infrastructure, the development of the blue economy, alternative energy sources, and an innovative agricultural sector as new areas for development in the Mykolaiv region.

According to Oleksandr Korolev, Director of the Economic Development Department of Mykolaiv Regional Council, the update of the regional strategy became necessary due to the adoption of the State Strategy for Regional Development for 2021-2027.

"Amendments to the strategy were made due to the need to take into account the challenges reflected in the state strategy. First of all, Ukraine's acquisition of the EU candidate status. And secondly, the consequences of a full-scale war against Ukraine and their impact on the community," Korolyov explained.

The relevant draft decision was supported by 43 deputies and only one abstention.

Recently, international partners of Mykolaiv region have offered to help rebuild infrastructure, promote economic development, and provide financial support.

It is planned to raise UAH 1.5 billion to rebuild Mykolaiv region. The most common projects include the reconstruction of medical facilities, educational institutions, and water supply systems. In 2024, international partners continued to support the region, allocating more than three hundred million euros for its recovery and development.
