On April 26, the 76th action to remind of Ukrainian soldiers who are in captivity or missing was held in the city of Pivdenoukrainsk, Mykolaiv region.
According to Suspilne.Mykolaiv, 36 people joined the event.
Among the participants was a local resident Olga, who is waiting for her husband Oleksandr. The soldier went missing in September 2024. According to the woman, he was supposed to celebrate his birthday that day.
"Today is his birthday, the second without him. I am waiting and believing that he will return," she said.
During the action, Natalia Bodnar, whose son Yevhen recently returned from Russian captivity as part of an exchange, was also congratulated.
According to the woman, her son served in Bakhmut and went missing on August 15, 2024. For a long time, the family had no information about his fate until it became known that he was in captivity.
Yevhen spent 617 days in captivity. All this time, his mother regularly attended support rallies and traveled to similar events in other cities.
On April 24, she received a message through the state service Diia that her son was included in the exchange lists. This was later confirmed by representatives of the coordination headquarters.
Since returning to Ukraine, Yevhen has been undergoing rehabilitation. During the first conversation, he told his mother that he was at home and was waiting for this moment.
Natalia thanked everyone involved in organizing the exchange and expressed support for the families who are still waiting for their loved ones.
As a reminder, in Mykolaiv, relatives of prisoners of war and missing Ukrainian soldiers held a rally with fireworks to draw attention to the fate of the defenders who have not yet returned home. The event was attended by relatives of the soldiers, volunteers and concerned residents of the city.
Earlier, Intent wrote that Mykolaiv hosted a rally in support of Ukrainian soldiers who are in Russian captivity and are considered missing. During the event, the townspeople greeted two soldiers who returned home from captivity.
In Mykolaiv, on August 31, people came out with flags, slogans, and photos to remind them of those who are in captivity or missing. The participants also congratulated the six soldiers released from captivity on their return. In total, the event was attended by about 270 people.
