Mykolaiv para-swimmer <b>Anna Gontar</b> has won a bronze medal at the World Championships currently taking place in Singapore. The competition began on September 21 and will last until September 27.
This was reported on September 22 by the Mykolaiv Regional Sports Association.
On the first day of the competition, the athlete showed a result in the 100-meter backstroke. The Ukrainian national team also includes three other athletes from Mykolaiv region: <b>Serhii Palamarchuk, Dmytro Vasylenko</b> and <b>Angelina Maltseva</b>. In total, 580 paraswimmers from 75 countries are taking part in the competition.
As a reminder, Anna is a bronze medalist at the Paralympic Games in Japan, a multiple champion and medalist at the World and European Championships. She is a native of Kherson, but represents Mykolaiv region in the competition.
Earlier, Mykolaiv parafencer Dmytro Serezhenko won <b>a bronze medal</b> at the World Wheelchair Fencing Championships.
The world wheelchair fencing competition in the South Korean city of Iksan lasted from September 2 to 7 and brought together athletes from 28 countries. On the very first day of the competition, Seryozhenko won a bronze medal in the men's sabre. The Ukrainian team includes three other representatives of Mykolaiv region: Oleh Naumenko, Tetiana Pozniak and Oleksii Zakusylov.
A Kherson sambo wrestler won gold at the 2025 World Games. <b>Andriy Kucherenko (weight category up to 71 kg) </b>won the first medal with a score of 6:1. The sambo wrestler defeated Russian sambo wrestler Rolan Zinnatov in a fight as a neutral. Vladyslav Rudnev won the second gold medal: in the final of the 79 kg weight category, he met the same "neutral" Hovhannes Abharyan.
