A resident of Mykolaiv will be tried for high treason for passing information about military positions to the enemy. He faces up to 15 years in prison or life in prison with confiscation of property.

This was reported by the press service of the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.

The investigation found that in October 2024, the man used a Telegram channel administered by a pro-Russian blogger to transmit information about the location of military positions in Mykolaiv.

Law enforcement detained him at his place of residence, and during a search found a cell phone with evidence of espionage.

The Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office approved and submitted to the court an indictment against a 43-year-old resident of Mykolaiv, who is suspected of high treason during martial law under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The accused is currently in custody and could face up to 15 years in prison or life imprisonment with confiscation of property. The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the SBU in Mykolaiv region.

Recently, the Zavodskyi District Court of Mykolaiv sentenced a local resident to 10 years in prison for passing information about the location of Ukrainian military during martial law to the enemy. The traitor passed on the coordinates of a military hospital, a reserve officer training faculty, a dormitory and other facilities.

In addition, the SBU identified three residents of Mykolaiv region who used Viber and Telegram to conduct information and subversive activities aimed at disrupting mobilization and discrediting the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The defendants in the case are two drivers of municipal and private enterprises and an unemployed woman from Pervomaiskyi district.

In addition, the court upheld the verdict against a 39-year-old resident of the region, sentencing him to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property for high treason and distribution of materials in support of Russian aggression.
