Mykolaiv plans to purchase school buses: UAH 3.9 million will be allocated from the city budget.

A draft decision has been published on the city council's website. It is to be considered by city council members at the next session.

The planned purchase of school buses in Mykolaiv to transport children to educational institutions will have significantly more funding than the initially allocated city funds.

Although UAH 3.9 million will be allocated from the city budget in 2025, the total amount will exceed this mark due to state support.

Another part of the funds is expected to come as a subvention from the state budget. Although the exact amount of the subvention for the city is not yet known, it is likely to be part of the UAH 19.7 million that was to be allocated to Mykolaiv region from the state budget this year for the purchase of school buses.

Thus, the purchase is part of a broader government program. This is confirmed by the fact that in the spring, the communities of Mykolaiv region have already received the first six school buses as part of a public investment project.

In total, since the beginning of 2024, 101 school buses have been purchased in Mykolaiv and Odesa regions for a total of UAH 353.1 million.

The purchase was made possible by the transition of the School Bus program to EU financial support through the Ukraine Facility, which allowed the fleet to maintain the pace of renewal despite the war.

However, this transition led to a significant concentration of the market. Previously, the program was funded by a government subvention, but now procurement is centralized. In Mykolaiv region, the main customer is the regional council's municipal institution, the Center for Financial and Statistical Monitoring..., and in Odesa region, it is the regional state administration itself.
