Mykolaiv Allocates ₴9.79M for Rehabilitation Center to Support 2,300 Children with Disabilities

In 2024, the city budget allocated more than UAH 9 million for the activities of the city center for comprehensive rehabilitation for children and people with disabilities. The center was financed both from the city budget and through charitable assistance.

This is evidenced by the public report for 2024 of the Department of Labor and Social Protection.

In 2024, the city budget allocated UAH 9.79 million for the center's activities. In addition, the center received charitable assistance in the amount of UAH 127.07 thousand.

The charitable funds were used to purchase the necessary equipment, including gymnastic poles, a set of elastic bands, dumbbells, step platforms, a wall bars, air conditioning, laptops, etc. It was also spent on rehabilitation items and materials, medicines and food.

The center purchased sanitary products, fuels and lubricants, spare parts for vehicles, construction materials, and office supplies. It also financed payment for communication services, the Internet, premises security, fire alarm maintenance, vehicle maintenance, software, and other operational services.

At the beginning of 2025, there were more than 2,300 children with disabilities in Mykolaiv. However, access to rehabilitation, education, and a barrier-free environment remains limited due to the effects of the war. Representatives of social services and city authorities emphasize the need to improve these conditions.

Recently, the city has planned to create an inclusive space that will become a safe place to study and work with specialists. Here, children with developmental disabilities and those who have experienced psychological trauma due to the war will be able to receive the necessary support.

Mykolaiv also continues to implementthe "No Barriers" program aimed at improving accessibility for people with disabilities and people with reduced mobility. In 2025, as part of the initiative, the city plans to install 45 new ramps, modernize sidewalks, and equip hospital wards for people with special needs.
