The head of a department of the State Migration Service in Odesa region is suspected of concealing a large amount of property in his 2023 declaration.

According to the regional prosecutor's office, the official failed to declare a house, a land plot, a luxury car, a significant amount of cash and other valuable property.

According to the investigation, in the electronic declaration, the official "forgot" to mention a 200-square-meter house, land of more than 600 square meters, a Mercedes-Benz G400D, more than UAH 11 million in cash, and a number of other valuable assets.

In addition, the document deliberately indicates ownership of the cryptocurrency Bitcoin, which was estimated at almost UAH 58 million, which, according to the investigation, was an attempt to artificially inflate the total value of his family's assets.

The prosecutor's office stated that the total amount of discrepancies is over UAH 83 million. The official has already been dismissed from his position. He was notified of suspicion under the article on intentional declaration of false information (Part 2 of Article 366-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Criminal liability for declaring false information (Article 366-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) occurs when an official intentionally provides false information in the declaration and the amount of hidden or distorted property is from 500 to 2000 subsistence minimums for able-bodied persons. In this case, he or she may face a fine of UAH 51,000 to 68,000, or community service of 150 to 240 hours, or imprisonment for up to two years. The court may also ban him or her from holding certain positions for up to three years.

Meanwhile, an officer of the recruitment and staffing department at the Odesa Regional TCC and JV was caught in a false declaration of property and assets worth more than UAH 3.8 million.
