After a long break, the Turkish company Medkon Lines has resumed container transportation on the Istanbul-Gebze-Odesa route. The first container ship has already arrived at the port of Odesa since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
This was reported by the Turkish Consulate.
They said that on this occasion, representatives of the port and the company held a meeting on board the vessel. The event was attended by Medkon Lines representative in Ukraine Nejat Uluevren, Deputy Head of the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority Dmytro Barinov, and Head of the Odesa Branch of USPA Denys Pavilianiti-Karpov.
The embassy noted that the resumption of Medkon Lines flights is an important step for the logistics ties between Ukraine and Turkey. Representatives of the port congratulated the company on its return and wished it a successful navigation.
Earlier, Intent wrote that Turkey has doubled its imports of Ukrainian iron ore.
Meanwhile, a modern grain transshipment terminal was opened in the port of Chornomorsk in Odesa region. It has already started its work. The idea for the construction came about at the beginning of the war when the company saw prospects in grain transshipment. The new terminal has a loading capacity of up to 8 thousand tons per day. It is capable of handling vessels with a deadweight of up to 30,000 tons, and the simultaneous grain storage capacity is 33,000 tons.
Ukrainian seaports show different financial results for the first three quarters of 2024: "Pivdennyi and Chornomorsk are increasing their profits, while the Danube ports are reducing their volumes.
According to analysts, the port of Chornomorsk showed significant growth: revenue tripled to UAH 1.48 billion, and net profit increased more than 17 times to UAH 668.89 million. In contrast, the Danube ports recorded a decline.
