The occupying head of the illegal parliament of Crimea, Vladimir Konstantinov, complains to the UN aboutthe thenon-recognition of the "referendum".

According to Holos Kryma, Konstantinov complained to the United Nations, which, according to him, "did not show a desire to learn the truth" about the "referendum" on the status of the de facto occupied Crimean peninsula, held by the invaders in March 2014.

"Unfortunately, the UN does not want to learn the truth about the Crimean "referendum" and "Russian" Crimea, stubbornly demonstrating political blindness and disrespect for the choice of the Crimean people," Konstantinov said, lamenting the lack of initiative in considering the grounds for holding this pseudo-referendum and its compliance with international norms.

"The UN continues to take a wait-and-see attitude, despite our readiness to provide all the necessary 'documents'. Still, we are waiting for their reaction," he added.

Earlier, Konstantinov also said that the so-called "authorities of the Republic of Crimea" are ready to provide the UN with documents that allegedly confirm the legality of the "referendum" held in 2014. He also expressed his belief that the recognition of the "Russian" status of the occupied peninsula "will be an important factor for the entire international community."

On June 16 this year, the Council of the European Union extended until June 23, 2026, the sanctions imposed in response to Russia's illegal occupation of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol. The EU does not recognize and continues to condemn the illegal annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol by the Russian Federation as a violation of international law. The Council of the EU also recalled that the current restrictive measures were first introduced in June 2014 and include bans on imports into the EU of goods originating in the illegally annexed Crimea or Sevastopol, as well as on infrastructure or financial investments and tourism services from the illegally annexed Crimea or Sevastopol.
