A serviceman in Kherson region is suspected of disclosing information about the location of the Armed Forces and leaving his unit without permission. He currently faces up to 10 years in prison.

This was reported by the press service of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.

According to the investigation, in October 2024, the serviceman, while at the temporary location of his unit, filmed a video on his mobile phone from online monitors that displayed operational information, including maps and symbols. He later passed this video file to a civilian.

As a result, one of the most important cameras monitoring the movement and deployment of Russian troops was destroyed, making it much more difficult to obtain operational information about the enemy's actions, which were striking at civilians and the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Kherson region.

In addition, investigators found that on March 4, 2025, the suspect left the unit without good reason and evaded his duties for more than 20 days. At the end of March, law enforcement officers detained him.

Under the procedural supervision of prosecutors of the Kherson Specialized Defense Prosecutor's Office of the Southern Region, the serviceman was suspected of unauthorized dissemination of information about the location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and unauthorized leaving the place of service under Part 2 of Article 114-2, Part 5 of Article 407 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The court has now imposed on him a measure of restraint in the form of detention without bail. He faces up to 10 years in prison for his actions.

Recently, a man who worked for the occupiers in a seized colony in Kherson region was detained after the region was de-occupied. He was charged with voluntarily taking a position in an illegal law enforcement agency, which carries up to 15 years in prison. After the liberation of the region, he concealed the fact of cooperation with the enemy, moved to another region, and even joined the Armed Forces.

The SBU has also recently exposed an FSB agent who was planning a terrorist attack near a shopping center in Kherson. Russian intelligence services tried to use him in the dark to blow it up, but law enforcement officers prevented the crime. The agent is in custody without the possibility of bail.
