A resident of Kherson region, who headed a "district election committee" and participated in illegal elections, will be tried.
This was reported by the press service of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.
The report says that under the procedural guidance of the Kherson Regional and Skadovsk District Prosecutor's Offices, an indictment was sent to court against a resident of the region on the facts of holding a position in an illegally created government body and participation in organizing and conducting illegal elections in the temporarily occupied territory (Part 5 of Article 111-1, Part 2 of Article 28, Part 5 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The investigation established that in April 2023, the accused voluntarily took up the position of the head of the so-called "Kalanchak Territorial Election Commission of Kherson Region". Together with the members of the illegally created commission, she participated in the work of the "territorial election committee", ensured the formation and functioning of "precinct election commissions", organized illegal elections of deputies of the so-called "Council of Deputies of the Kalanchak municipal district of the first convocation".
The special pre-trial investigation was conducted by the SBU in Kherson region.
Earlier it was reported that the "head and member of the PEC" in Mykilske will be tried in Kherson region for organizing and holding a pseudo-referendum. The investigation found that in September 2022, the accused voluntarily headed the so-called "precinct election commission" that operated in the village of Mykilske and prepared a pseudo-referendum on the region's secession from Ukraine and accession to Russia. Another defendant became a member of this "PEC".
It was also reported that a resident of Kherson region was sentenced to 6 years in prison for participating in the organization and conduct of a pseudo-referendum.
