The Kherson City Court found a former law enforcement officer from Kherson guilty of collaboration in absence. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.

This was reported by the State Bureau of Investigation.

According to the investigation, after the full-scale invasion, the man betrayed his oath and headed the 'expert forensic center' illegally created by the occupiers.

In his new position, the convict was actively recruiting "employees" using threats and bribery. Law enforcement officers found that the Ukrainian employees who remained in the city were brought to him for a "conversation" by the Russian military and unidentified persons in balaclavas. People were intimidated, demanding to go over to the side of the occupiers. As a "bonus," he offered them high salaries, housing, and "solving problems" with military registration.

After the Armed Forces of Ukraine successfully liberated the right bank of Kherson region, the convict escaped and was "evacuated" to the territory controlled by the Russian Federation. Thanks to the trial in absentia, the verdict was delivered despite his absence.

Earlier, SBI officers served a notice of suspicion to the head of the Mykolaiv Housing and Maintenance Department. The official is suspected of embezzling UAH 1.4 million allocated from the state budget for the needs of the Defense Forces.

The official was supposed to purchase fuel wood for the needs of the Armed Forces to fulfill a mobilization task. Knowing the real cost of the products, the offender organized a scheme to make money on the procurement. Through a shell company, he purchased wood from forestry enterprises of the State Enterprise "Forests of Ukraine" and then supplied it to his own department at twice the price. This allowed the executive to earn more than UAH 1.4 million.
