A special commission has been established in Kherson to review the nominations of individuals proposed for state awards and honors. It will evaluate the nominees’ merits and recommend whether to approve or reject the nominations.

The relevant order was signed by Yaroslav Shanko, head of the Kherson City Military Administration.

The commission will conduct a preliminary review of nominations for Ukrainian state awards, as well as honors from the president, the Verkhovna Rada, and the Cabinet of Ministers.

In particular, its members will review documents, examine the candidates’ merits, and assess whether the proposed award is commensurate with their achievements. After the review, the commission will prepare a recommendation to either approve or reject the nomination.

Serhiy Pavliuk, chief of staff of the Kherson City Council’s executive committee, was appointed to head the commission. Anton Yefanov, deputy head of the Kherson City Administration, was appointed as his deputy.

The commission also includes heads of city council departments and divisions. Among them are representatives from the fields of education, culture, healthcare, legal policy, and media relations.

The order states that the new body is to ensure a unified approach to reviewing nominations and prevent unfounded award submissions.

However, the commission itself will not make decisions on awarding honors—it will only conduct a preliminary review of nominations and provide recommendations.

The Mykolaiv and Kherson regions were among those whose representatives received high state awards for their contributions to community development and resilience during wartime. The awards were presented, in particular, to the chair of the Mykolaiv Regional Council and the head of the Borozenske Rural Military Administration in the Kherson region.
