In Kherson, a bank employee misappropriated currency and is under investigation. The man has already been fired and faces a prison term.
This was reported by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.
According to the investigation, in May 2022, the head of the bank security department of one of the local branches of the bank received a significant amount of foreign currency belonging to the financial institution for safekeeping. However, instead of fulfilling his duties, he took possession of the money, causing the bank losses of more than UAH 230 thousand (at the exchange rate at the time of the crime).
He is charged with misappropriation of funds through abuse of office under martial law (Part 4 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The suspect faces up to 8 years in prison with confiscation of property.
Also in Kherson, an entrepreneur was exposed for misappropriating budget funds during the construction of shelters. Her company signed a contract with the city council for the installation and construction of 14 reinforced concrete shelters for civilians. The total amount of the contract was over UAH 4 million.
Meanwhile, the former director of a Kherson school is suspected of embezzling budget funds on a large scale. It happened during the occupation. The former director used her authority to issue orders to pay bonuses to 44 employees in July and 12 in August.
The amounts of the bonuses varied: the minimum was 2000 hryvnias, and the maximum was 150,000 hryvnias. The total amount of illegal payments amounted to UAH 2.44 million, which was confirmed by the results of a forensic economic examination. Law enforcement officers see signs of embezzlement of budget funds on a particularly large scale in the actions of the 62-year-old woman, especially when the budget funds were supposed to be used in the most responsible manner.
