A junior sergeant from Mykolaiv region demanded $4,500 for influencing a medical commission to exempt a man from mobilization. He was exposed while receiving the bribe, the court imposed a fine and released him from custody.
This is evidenced by the ruling of the Zavodskyi District Court of Mykolaiv.
According to the case file, in January 2025, a junior sergeant of a security company, a native of the village of Mykhailo-Laryne, met a man in the parking lot of the Tavria B supermarket in Mykolaiv. There, he offered to organize a "positive" decision by the medical commission to remove the man from the military register for a fictitious heart condition in exchange for $5,000. Subsequently, the parties agreed on the amount of 4500 USD.
The sergeant assured that he had connections through which he could transfer the falsified documents to the military enlistment office. He even sent the man a photocopy of a certificate from a private medical facility with a fictitious diagnosis. He received the money for his "services" at the next meeting in the same parking lot. Immediately after the bribe was handed over, he was detained by law enforcement.
On March 28, a plea agreement was concluded in the case. The sergeant sincerely repented, pleaded guilty and assured that he would not do it again. The Zavodskyi District Court of Mykolaiv approved the agreement and sentenced him to a fine of UAH 200,600. He was also charged with more than UAH 10 thousand in procedural costs, his property was seized, and the preventive measure was canceled - the man was released from custody right in the courtroom.
Recently, in Mykolaiv region, the chief of staff of a military unit was accused of illegally charging combat bonuses. According to the investigation, the payments were made on the basis of forged documents - they were received by soldiers who did not take part in hostilities. For such actions, he faces up to 8 years in prison, and the suspect's property was seized to compensate for the damage.
And in March, law enforcement officers detained a lawyer who tried to bribe a border guard to illegally take a person liable for military service abroad. The woman offered the border guard $3,000 in bribes. However, the serviceman refused the money and reported the bribery attempt to his superiors.
