Ruslan Gorovyi, a journalist, poet, musician, and writer, was in Odesa during the nighttime attack on August 9 and responded to the Russians with a poem.

He posted it on his Facebook page.

Among the shards of broken glass
Fountains and Peresyp.
Once again, the night was hellish
In eternal Odesa.

Once again, there’s no light
On Lanzheron.
Grandpa lets Pisun go
At the fat and black ones.

Fingers up toward the south and east
From “The Princess from Privoz.”
To hell with you, you devil of a neighbor,
Not the tears of Odessa.

“Tonight, we—visitors from Kyiv—fully experienced Odessa’s vibe this summer. The ‘Russian World’ is seriously terrorizing Odessa. However, this isn’t the first time Odessa has defended itself,” Ruslan Horovyi commented on his experience.

Ruslan Horovyi is a Ukrainian journalist, creator of the well-known project “Child Search Service,” Honored Journalist of Ukraine, documentary filmmaker, poet, musician, and writer, as well as the author of collections of novellas and short stories. He is a co-founder of the “TaTiSho” publishing house and the founder of the art project “This Is How Memory Works,” which aims to honor the memory of Dani Didik. The music project in which Ruslan Horovyi performs his original songs in English and Ukrainian is called Uki John.

On the night of August 9, Russian troops carried out a massive combined attack on the Odesa region, using several dozen missiles and drones. Odesa suffered the most damage, with at least eight people injured. Most of the victims suffered shrapnel wounds.
