In the Odesa region, a Russian attack drone struck the locomotive of passenger train No. 147 traveling from Zhytomyr to Odesa. Before the attack, the Ukrzaliznytsia monitoring team issued an evacuation order in advance, and the train was urgently stopped on the tracks.
This was reported by Oleksandr Pertsovskyi, chairman of the board of Ukrzaliznytsia.
According to him, thanks to prompt action, passengers, the train crew, and the locomotive crew were evacuated before the strike. At the time of the attack, there were 593 passengers on the train, including 15 children.
“Ukrzaliznytsia” notes that all passengers and train crew members were evacuated in a timely manner. Following the attack, the Odesa Regional Military Administration and the State Emergency Service joined efforts to address the aftermath.
Transportation to Odesa is being arranged for the passengers.
Ukrzaliznytsia thanked everyone who responded promptly to the threat for their decisive actions and for saving lives.
Earlier, a passenger train in the Odesa region was hit by a precision strike from a Russian-made rocket-propelled drone. The locomotive crew was killed on the spot; passengers and the train crew were evacuated.
Earlier in the Odesa region, security services detaineda spotter who was capable of directing Russian rocket and drone attacks on the fuel and energy infrastructure of southern Ukraine. He was caught in the act of installing a GPS tracker on a military fuel tanker.
As the investigation revealed, the suspect’s primary tasks included locating and transmitting the coordinates of gas stations, as well as the locations ofUkrzaliznytsia freight trains and Defense Forces fuel tankers.
A court in the Odesa region also sentencedaformerrailroad workerto 15 years in prison for setting fire to a critical facility on the railroad. The man was carrying out orders from an unknown handler on Telegram in exchange for money.
