A resident of Kherson headed the railway and managed military logistics for the Russian Federation

A court found the head of the "Kakhovka" railcar depot guilty of aiding an aggressor state. He handed over railcars that were used to transport Russian military equipment to the right bank.

According to the investigation, after part of the Kherson region was seized, Serhiy Nadeyev voluntarily agreed to head the “Kakhovka” railcar depot, which the occupying authorities incorporated into the illegally established enterprise “Kherson Railway.”

The court established that in June 2022, he became the head of the depot, which was established using seized Ukrzaliznytsia property. In this position, he organized the enterprise’s operations in accordance with Russian standards, registered employees, conducted inventory checks, signed orders, and ensured the functioning of the occupying structure.

According to the case file, Russian military personnel used the depot’s premises to house personnel and equipment. The enterprise was also used to transport freight, including the delivery of food supplies to units of the Russian Federation’s army.

Email correspondence served as key evidence in the case. According to the investigation, Nadeev regularly sent information to the leadership of the occupied railway regarding inventory results, lists of railcars and equipment, as well as photo and video reports on the depot’s operations.

The investigation identified the transfer of 12 railcars as a separate incident; according to the investigation, these railcars were used to construct a crossing over the Kakhovka navigable lock. It was via this crossing that Russian troops transported military equipment to the right bank of the Kherson region.

The court also considered witness testimony. Witnesses reported that Nadeev personally urged employees to transfer to work at the occupation depot. One of the former employees confirmed that Nadeev introduced himself as the new manager, spoke about the enterprise’s future operations under the control of the occupation administration, and disposed of the Ukrainian depot’s property.

After reviewing documents, email correspondence, eyewitness testimony, and the results of the investigation, the court concluded that the defendant’s guilt had been fully proven. The court rejected the defense’s arguments regarding the lack of evidence.

As a result, Serhiy Nadeyev was found guilty in absentia of aiding an aggressor state and sentenced to 11 years in prison. The sentence will begin upon his actual arrest.

Additionally, the director of the municipal enterprise “Khersonmiskosvitlo” was sentenced for collaborating with the occupying administration, putting the aggressor state’s national currency into circulation, and voluntarily transferring vehicles belonging to the municipal enterprise.
