In Mykolaiv, the dismantling of the destroyed entrance of a high-rise building at 54 Yevhenia Loginova Street has not been started for more than three years. The building was hit by a missile on October 1, 2022, but the emergency part is still dangerous.
According to Suspilne Mykolaiv, according to Artem Sapozhnyk, deputy director of the city's housing and utilities department, in 2023 the dismantling was actually ready to start - they even signed a contract with the contractor. However, the work never started because they failed to obtain the consent of all the co-owners of the building, which is a prerequisite.
In 2026, the situation repeated itself: the dismantling was again postponed, this time due to delays on the part of international partners. According to the official, the donors have not completed internal procedures, so the contractor has not yet been selected.
Meanwhile, residents fear for their safety. The destroyed structures remain unstable, and people are forced to pass by every day. According to local residents, even the fencing does not guarantee protection from a possible collapse.
The situation is further complicated by the difference in expert opinions. The initial examination recommended complete dismantling of the entrance. At the same time, another, commissioned by the residents, suggested the possibility of restoration. The control study showed a compromise: first, the top three floors should be dismantled, and only then should the future of the building be determined.
Some of the residents have already been relocated, many have received housing certificates and purchased new housing. Others are still waiting for the entrance to be restored.
According to the latest information, the dismantling may begin soon after the contractor is selected. The work is planned to be carried out together with a technical inspection to quickly decide whether to restore the house or completely dismantle it.
In total, 12 more apartment buildings damaged by shelling are planned to be dismantled in Mykolaiv, in whole or in part.
As previously reported by Intent, more than 16,000 infrastructure facilities were destroyed in Mykolaiv region due to the full-scale invasion and hostile shelling. Currently, 6,157 facilities have been restored in Mykolaiv region.
