Prosecutors of Kherson region prevented unjustified spending of budget funds in excess of UAH 73 million.

This was reported by the press service of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.

The post says that the decision of the Southwestern Economic Court of Appeal upheld the complaint of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office and invalidated the additional agreement to the contract for the procurement of works on the operational maintenance of roads in the Kherson region. Thus, due to the prosecutor's intervention under martial law, unjustified expenditures of more than UAH 73 million were prevented.

It is also noted that the prosecutor's office proved that in 2022, a state institution and a limited liability company concluded an agreement to repair a public road of national importance in Kherson region. Its cost was over UAH 183.3 million. At the time of the transaction, there was no funding for these works, so the parties postponed the completion date for one year by an additional agreement. This increased the cost of the services provided. In addition, the additional agreement was concluded in violation of the terms of the contract and the requirements of the legislation on the procurement of goods, works and services during the period of martial law.

The press service added that such actions entail inefficient use of budget funds and level the principle of maximum economic and efficient use of budget funds. While performing the function of representing the interests of the state, prosecutors proved in court that the requirements of the law were violated, which led to the imposition of economically unprofitable obligations on the budgetary institution.
