A logistics complex specializing in the transshipment of grain, fertilizers and liquid bulk cargo, located in a strategic location on the banks of the Danube River in Odesa region, is up for sale.
Ukrainian Shipping Magazine reports.
The complex specializes in transshipment of grains, pulses, meal, mineral fertilizers, as well as liquid bulk cargoes such as diesel, gasoline, sunflower oil, and others.
In particular, the terminal has its own transshipment equipment, pipeline system, and weighing complex, and can handle up to 120 thousand tons per month.
Depths are 9-10 meters, with the possibility of completing berths and increasing transshipment volumes to 300,000 tons per month.
The price of the terminal was not disclosed.
The reason for the sale of the complex is likely to be the decrease in transshipment of agricultural products on the Danube and the reorientation of cargo flows to the ports of Greater Odesa.
Instead, a project to restore one of Ukraine's largest grain terminals with the support of American investors has been launched at the Odesa seaport.
The project is expected to create about 150 new jobs and attract significant private capital to the development of port infrastructure, which should also provide additional tax revenues to local and state budgets.
In July, according to the Financial Times, the Presidential Administration helped two American funds collect $95 million in debt from Odesa tycoons who owned a terminal and defaulted on their loans. Innovatus Capital Partners and Argentem Creek Partners gained control of the Olimpex terminal in Odesa by falsifying grain data.
