A technical examination has been ordered in the case of the alleged embezzlement of almost UAH 5 million during the repair of the roof of Odesa Lyceum No. 6. Investigators have already received permission to inspect the roof of the school.

Intent learned about this from the decision of the Kyiv District Court of Odesa.

The investigating judge of the Kyiv District Court of Odesa allowed to inspect the roof of Lyceum No. 6 at 32 Admiralsky Avenue. This is part of an investigation in which law enforcement officers are checking for possible embezzlement of budget funds during the repair of the city's educational institutions.

According to the investigation, officials of the Center for Financing Educational Institutions of Khadzhibeyskyi district of Odesa may have embezzled money in collusion with an entrepreneur. It is a contract for the overhaul of the roof of Lyceum No. 6 for almost UAH 5 million. Investigators suspect that the documents for the work performed contained overstated volumes and false information about the materials used.

Back in March 2025, a forensic construction and technical examination of the work performed was ordered. The expert requested unimpeded access to the facility to verify the actual scope of work and find out whether the budget funds spent corresponded to the actual results.

The court ruling states that such an inspection is necessary because without it it is impossible to fully establish the truth in the case:

"The review is the most appropriate and effective way to find and record information about the circumstances of criminal offenses that are relevant to the pre-trial investigation and which are specified in the petition, which, in turn, cannot be obtained voluntarily," the statement said.

The investigation is being conducted under Article 191 of the Criminal Code - misappropriation of property through abuse of office. If the officials are proven guilty, they face up to 12 years in prison.

Odesa is also considering a case of alleged embezzlement of budget funds during the repair of a shelter at kindergarten No. 241, located at 5-A Vitaliy Blazhko Street.
