Odesa wants to create a separate department to work with veterans. The decision is planned to be considered at the next session of the city council.

This is evidenced by a draft decision of the Odesa City Council.

Odesa plans to create a separate department for veterans' affairs, which will oversee the implementation of state and local programs to support defenders. The new structure will be formed by cutting some positions in the Department of Labor and Social Policy. The city council will consider the relevant draft decision at its session on November 19.

The department will consist of three departments - for the implementation of the city's target program, the implementation of state veteran initiatives, and financial support - as well as five directly subordinate departments: legal, personnel, citizens' appeals, social inspectors, and the front office.

About fifty employees of the Labor Department will be transferred to the newly created unit. Its key tasks include organizing social payments, compensation and benefits for veterans and their families, professional adaptation programs, psychological and medical rehabilitation, and events to honor the memory of fallen soldiers.

The creation of the department entails additional staffing costs, but the mayor's office notes that due to internal optimization, city budget expenditures will not increase significantly.

Recently, a project for a memorial complex in honor of fallen soldiers was presented in Odesa. It should unite all existing military burials, include an interfaith chapel, a park, a columbaria, and a symbolic sculpture of memory. The details of the creation of the Memorial to the fallen defenders of Ukraine were discussed on the Int. Insight program, David Pischevyi, a candidate of architectural sciences and a specialist in memorialization, told about the details of the Memorial to the fallen defenders of Ukraine.

Also, at the last session of the Odesa City Council, the deputies voted to liquidate the municipal institution"Municipal Guard". This decision was made to reduce budget expenditures and optimize the management of city structures.
